Redgate is the leading provider of software solutions for Compliant Database DevOps.

As an exhibitor for the upcoming Healthcare Excellence Through Technology (HETT) conference in September, we caught up with Matt Burroughs, Senior Account Executive, Redgate to discuss the challenges around data management, and the impact of having a compliant database for digital health organisations.

HETT: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us Matt. Tell us a bit about how your organisation currently supports the health and care sector.

Matt Burroughs: Redgate helps the healthcare system balance the demand to deliver software fast with the need to protect and preserve private health information. Redgate offers Compliant Database DevOps solutions, to make life easier for development, operations, and IT leaders. By solving the database challenges in delivery software at speed.

From hospitals providing vital care, to pioneering research in the pharmaceutical industry, database teams across the healthcare sector are relied upon every day to maintain consistent access to data and prevent interruptions that could affect the front-line. Database DevOps is supporting Healthcare to improve the quality and efficiency of releases, monitoring servers to allow problems to be resolved before they impact the front line, all while ensuring patient data is kept secure.

90% of Healthcare organisations from the Fortune 500 trust Redgate Software Compliant Database DevOps solutions.

HETT: With your experience, what are some of the biggest challenges that you have identified when working closely with your NHS/Care partners?

Matt Burroughs: We have seen small DBA teams in place, sometimes as low as one person, managing a whole trust's data. Managing this amount of data is very difficult, leaving little to no time to check alerts – leaving errors uninspected, which can lead to clinical systems going down and entire hospitals coming to a standstill whilst the problem is resolved.

Confidence in the security and confidentiality of private health information – when there is an ever-increasing risk of cyber security breaches. It is challenging to deliver realistic test data to develop quickly and safely, whilst keeping quality high. If the wrong test data is chosen, it can hamper development, drive down quality, risk non-compliance and lead to escalating infrastructure costs.

HETT: Tell us how working with your products and solutions can help tackle some of the challenges that exist within digital health.

Matt Burroughs: Our solutions can help overcome some of these challenges in a range of areas.

Monitor performance & availability
Healthcare organisations share the challenge of large quantities of sensitive data, and high levels of demand. Proactively monitoring servers helps avoid downtime with accurate and assistive reporting that diagnoses performance problems before impact to clinicians, researchers, or patients.

Remove the database bottleneck in software delivery
Synchronise database and application delivery to provide efficiency, speed, and visibility among IT teams who are working with large quantities of private health information. Reliable and repeatable processes remove the database deployment bottleneck and ensure downtime is prevented.

Protecting patient data
Whichever industry within healthcare you work in, you will likely be accustomed to a host of regulatory requirements. Data privacy tooling can efficiently remove the risk of breaches from your systems, enabling GDPR compliance, and keeping patients happy, so that teams are left to focus on delivery.

HETT: Great breakdown of solution pathways Matt. We will be hosting HETT Connect again this year, enabling speakers to meet with exhibitors on a 1:1 basis. Who are you hoping to meet?

Matt Burroughs: If you are looking to adopt DevOps within your organisation, or you have already started on your DevOps / digital transformation journey then Redgate software will be able to support you. We are looking to connect with database teams across the healthcare sector, who will benefit from implementing our software to enhance their daily work, productivity, and efficiency goals.

The roles that we typically work with are database development and business intelligence team leaders, DBAs, DevOps engineers, InfoSec & Cyber Security teams, IT managers, IT Directors, and C-Level Execs. If you would like to find out more about how Redgate could support your organisations digital transformation, please get in touch to arrange a meeting.

HETT: As HETT Show approaches (27-28 Sept @ExCeL London), tell us what you are looking forward to the most at HETT Show 2022.

Matt Burroughs: Furthering our team’s knowledge and understanding of the most pressing data development challenges, that the Healthcare sector is facing over the next five years, and how we can best support the industry with our trusted technology. I see this event as an opportunity to lay the foundations for a brighter digital future for 2025 and beyond.

Most of all, I am looking forward to an in-person event, having the chance to meet healthcare customers both old and new, building our network of IT professionals in the industry, and learning from each other.

HETT:
Thank you for your time today Matt. It’s been a pleasure learning more about how Redgate contributes to the evolution of the healthcare sector. We look forward to seeing you at HETT Show (27th & 28th September, ExCeL London)!
