Protecting Progress - Why Cybersecurity is the Must-Attend Conversation at HETT 2025
With so much of our health and care system now running on digital infrastructure, conversations around cybersecurity are no longer just for IT teams - they’re for everyone. From protecting patient data and ensuring service continuity to enabling the safe use of AI and data-sharing tools, cybersecurity underpins the entire future of digital health.
That’s why one of the session’s I’m most looking forward to at HETT 2025 is:
Futureproofing Cyber in Health and Care – What Can We Do Now?
Despite cybersecurity being fundamental to digital health transformation, it hasn’t yet been mentioned in the chapters released so far for the NHS 10-Year Plan.
We’re still waiting for the final instalment, the Delivery Chapter, which will (we hope) explain how all the ambition and innovation will actually be implemented. But until then, we’re left asking: where does cyber fit into the vision?
This panel brings together some of the most knowledgeable people in the space to help answer some of these questions, including:
- Mike Fell, Executive Director – National Cyber Security Operations, NHS England
- Michelle Corrigan, Programme Director, Digital Care Hub
- Cate McLaurin, Senior Director – Local Government, Public Digital
- Nasser Arif, Chair and Cyber Security Manager, London North West Healthcare NHS Trust
I’m really looking forward to hearing how they see cybersecurity evolving alongside national programmes like, the new Single Patient Record, the FDP, the increased capability of the NHS App and wider digital infrastructure investment.
Why This Session Matters to Me
At HETT, we talk a lot about enabling innovation, but that’s only possible if we’re also protecting the systems, data, and people behind that innovation. This session is all about practical steps we can take right now, not five years from now, to create a safer, smarter digital future for the system.
I’m especially interested in the discussion around:
- What ‘must-have’ cyber practices look like today across health and care
- How to build collaboration across systems while still supporting local resilience
- What sustainable, long-term investment models could look like
- How we can protect care continuity in the face of emerging threats
It Aligns Directly with One of HETT’s Top Priorities: Cyber Security
This session is a must-attend because it speaks directly to one of HETT 2025’s three core content priorities: cyber security.
As digital transformation accelerates across health and care, safeguarding sensitive data, ensuring operational resilience, and maintaining public trust are non-negotiables. Cyber resilience isn’t just an IT issue - it underpins everything from emerging technologies to personal care pathways.
Cyber may not feature in the 10-Year Plan chapters released so far, but it’s fundamental to delivering any of them. That’s why we’re making space for this crucial conversation at HETT 2025.
If You're Coming to HETT 2025, Don’t Miss This One
We can’t talk about data, digital records, and connected care without also talking about cyber. So, if, like me, you’re keen to understand how the NHS will actually protect what it’s building, this session will be essential.
This won’t be our only session covering cyber security at HETT 2025. To see our full cyber security content offering at the show this year, take a look at the agenda on our website.
See you at HETT this October—let’s talk cyber!
